A fter two consecutive years of intense drought in Spain, expectations regarding the grape harvest have been reduced significantly. In the current year, rainfall levels have been much lower than those we were used to during the past decade, and there are no expectations of improvement for the following months. Due to the lack of rainfall, we have a considerable deficit in the country’s water reserve, which is at 38.79% of its capacity, according to data offered by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.

Strong are the conclusions of the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that urges Spanish administrations and economic sectors to tackle, in the coming years, a profound economic, social and political transformation to avoid the worst effects of global warming.

We celebrate World Water Day, but what do we have to celebrate?

World Water Day is an excellent tool to reflect on this essential resource that we use every day and that we have to value every drop, trying to manage it and make the most of it.

According to the latest United Nations World Report published by UNESCO, on the Development of Water Resources of 2020, the continent that consumes the most water for industrial use is Asia. It is not surprising that in the case of the continent with the largest industrial production on the planet.

As a consequence of some requests from our clients in various parts of the world we have developed a variant of our product that is very efficient in pig farms. We have named it PETRONET AGROPIG.

On this occasion we want to deal with one of the energies that are postulated as the energies of the future, from a circular economy perspective. Biogas is a renewable energy in which organic waste is used to produce energy that can be used for as many applications as traditional gas.

The biogas production process is a complex system in which many factors intervene. In general, digestion consists in taking advantage of the waste to obtain this biofuel from the carbon present in the so said waste.

The use of the term Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) is coined and supported by the European Union, and they define it as solutions to environmental, social and economic problems based on or copying solutions that exist in nature itself.

Biogas is one of the most increasing energy production system over the world. The benefits from biogas are remarkable as long as the producer knows how to produce, treat and purify it. In this new post we will focus on how to improve biomethane, the most useful part of biogas coming from biodigesters, and the one used to work engines.

In anaerobic digesters for the production of methane gas, from Urban Solid Waste a large amount of Hydrogen Sulfide (SH2) is produced, which acts as a pollutant and, consequently, it is necessary to proceed to desulfurization to optimize the results.

We have recently tested the action of Petronet in promoting the hydrolysis of ligno-cellulosic matter, from the plant mantle. It has been proven that the addition of a small amount of Petronet in the remains of the plant mantle in aqueous solution used as a restructuring agent in the digestion, increased the production of free sugars by 27%, compared to autonomous production, without the intervention of other adjuvants.

Since the beginning of the agrarian revolution and later the industrial revolution, continental soils have been the most damaged.

Industrial activity, being an activity of transformation of raw materials into manufactured materials, generates waste that can potentially harm nature.

It may seem ironic that on a planet on which 70% of its surface is water, the lack of it is a problem for us. Maybe we are surrounded by water, and that generates the false feeling that it is unlimited, however, we must be aware that humans do not need any type of water, we need quality water. […

Within the HORIZON 2020 program of Research and Development of the European Union, in the call for the month of September 2017, our company has participated in the SME (Small and Medium Business) section with the “RIBATI” Project, for the development of a commercialization process of a bacterial solution for cleaning waters contaminated with recalcitrant effluents.

The product “PETRONET - ALFA”, from the range of products developed by AMAPEX, has been tested, first in a pilot plant and later in industrial production, to remove contaminants from the washing of textile pieces in dry cleaning and textile finishing factories.

As part of the research work carried out by our team, we have been provided with samples of heavily contaminated water from the manufacture of insecticides and pesticides.

This water, in addition to a high concentration of Lindane, contained a significant quantity of other contaminants, such as Mercury and chlorinated compounds.

The application, for a week, of a variety of our PETRONET process has reduced the concentration of these elements to practically unsuspected limits, as shown in following tables.
